Important chronology of the orb:
Circa 100,000 Years Ago:
The great beasts wandered free and harmoniously, both in the North and the South. For many, these now only exist in myth. Or do they? These beasts shaped the land asmuch as they were shaped by it. Their footprints were said to havecreated the valleys, and their breath to have enabled life.
Circa 80,000 Years Ago:
A great darkness entered the orb, and a long war began between the North and the South, creating a tension that’s never been forgotten, or overcome.
Circa 65,000 Years Ago:
Born into hostility and chaos, the First Generation of humanoids walked the orb for the first time.
Circa 50,000 years ago:
The Second Generation began, and a great time of peace ensued. This was their golden age, marked by collaborative festivals, shared rituals, and harmony between beast
and humanoid communities. They were as one.
Circa 30,000 Years Ago:
The Thousand Year Defiance began with the arrival of the Third Generation, a group distinguished by their adaptability and ambition for advancement. This generation brought innovations in both social organisation and magical practice, yet their emergence also reignited longstanding tensions between the North and South. The orb’s equanime supply was notably weaker for the first time during this era, contributing to
widespread instability. After the Defiance, the general use of
alchemy and sorcery was banned. The old beasts had all but
vanished. Cray Academy was established.
Circa 15,000 Years Ago:
The Fourth Generation began. By this age, the memory of the great beasts had faded into legend and myth, their true nature preserved only in fragmented oral traditions and symbolic rituals. The absence of these beings was felt across
society, shaping collective identity and influencing art, religion, and social customs. This generation was born into an era of rapid advancement and innovation, yet the myths of the lost beasts continued to inform their understanding of the natural world and their place within it.
Circa 13,000 Years Ago:
The beginnings of the advanced technological revolution. Space exploration became possible and those who still practiced sorcery and alchemy were shunned.
Circa 2,000 Years Ago:
The humanoids returned to a simpler way of life, prompted by growing concerns over their homeland and the social consequences of neglect and reliance on biomechanical
technology. Their impact on their communities, and the need to
abandon advanced machinery in favour of traditional agricultural practices, prompted many to choose this path. This shift reflected a collective effort to restore balance with the natural world and to foster a renewed sense of community by working the land.
Circa 600 Years Ago:
Aygor began gathering followers and
consolidating influence in secret, laying the groundwork for the
movement that would eventually lead to his rise. During this
period, covert operations and alliances set the stage for significant political transformation within the South.
530 Years Ago:
Aygor rises to power in the South as a dictating
king.
200 Years Ago:
The Fifth Generation began, though, thus far, very few have been born.
Six Full Moons Ago:
The rising of the resistance and Aygor’s death. Freedom was hard-fought and came at great cost.
Present Day:
A new ruling body, the caucus, has been established to oversee the rebuilding of society and its infrastructure. This
transition has brought both hope and uncertainty. The citizens
contend with both the lingering effects of former divisions and
widespread trauma. Too much is, as of yet, unknown.
